Supply problems
I ordered a lens in early October which it turned out E-Tech could not supply at the quoted price, probably because of wild exchange rate fluctuations at the time.

After 6 weeks it was obvious that I would not get the lens so I asked for a refund and got it within a week.

Pros: Good selection of items.
Good prices.
Fair deal in the end.
Cons: Very uncommunicative.
Are not always able to supply goods.

E-Tech-Direct Warning
Not happy. After processing my payment I received an email that read: "Due to the world financial situation we are experiencing long delays with deliveries. We do apologise for any inconvenience. Your order will be shipped as soon as possible"

Their Australian telephone support line states that they are no longer accepting support calls and all contact should be via email. This is my first experience with E-Tech and I am not confident of getting the camera I ordered or getting getting a refund.

I have contacted E-Tech by email and I'm waiting for a reply. If I haven't heard anything by tomorrow I'll be opening a PayPal dispute.

This is a scam site ...!
I have placed an order with e-tech on the 5th of October and since the original confirmation of payment being received no updates. The contact number they have on the web site has a recording that says “They are no longer taking calls and will only respond to e-mails” I have sent 3,4 e-mails trying to find out about the order and non has been answered.

I had made the payment with PayPal so I opened a non delivery case couple of days ago and still no response from e-tech. Hopefully I’ll be able to get a refund from PayPal. My only advice to people who consider purchasing from this company is DON’T !

Pros: Non what so ever. At least you will get to keep your money..!
Cons: You will be bitterly disappointed.

Ordered (and paid) iPod Touch and iPhone 3G
I confirmed prices with e-tech-direct (Aimee) on Tuesday afternoon and purchased on the website on Wednesday morning (and paid by EFT).
On Thursday I get told that "Unfortunately we are unable to fulfill the order due to the sudden drop of the Australian dollar over the last week".
Its Friday, they received their funds yesterday and haven't refunded me yet.

Pros: Nothing I can think of!
Cons: What about a Mission Statement that states that "we change prices daily." Sorry, I put my order based on the price on that day, I paid (and they received the money) and have an order confirmation with the price details.
Still, order has been cancelled and I'm waiting for my refund!
Oh, yes, the phones don't work at e-tech-direct.

I purchased a camera from their bargain bin on Friday, it was listed as being on the wait list so there would be a delay in posting the item, which I was fine with.

I paid immediately via bank transfer (as all other payment methods incur surcharges).

Tuesday morning I get two emails:

1) Your payment has been received and order will be shipped shortly.

2) (Hour later)... The item you ordered was purchased before payment has received please give us your bank details for full refund.

I phoned the customer "care" line and asked for an explanation:

I got told rudely:

-Orders are not acknowledged before payment has been received. “SO you should have paid with another method”.

-There was limited stock and someone paid immediately, overwriting my order.

-As an internet company they cannot monitor stock levels as they are not physically with the stock

Refund was received today however I am very disappointed in E-Tech. Firstly I don’t know how an item that you have to go on a waiting list for (stock is on order from supplier) can sell out esspecially when the camera was listed Friday afternoon and I paid for it Friday evening.

Secondly in the world of computer knowledge today how is it possible that a technology based business cannot monitor stock levels electronically? (Every other internet business does. It should not be possible for someone to order and pay for an item that is not there!.... this means I have to give out my personal bank information to someone that I do not trust in order to get my money back.

It is in my opinion that the company made a mistake in price when listing the price, instead of acting like a legitimate company and giving the customer the benefit of their mistake, they decided to pretend no stock was available/

Not happy.

Pros: good prices
Cons: What does it matter when there is no stock?

Thanks e-tech I brought the Nokia N95 mobile phone and I had never brought online before so I was really worried. But everything was okay the phone was delivered in 6 days, your phone messages and emails kept me up to date with what was going on with my order. I had a problem with the manual not being in English and the battery charger converter but you rectified the problems immediately. Thanks e-tech, I would recommend you and I would buy your products again.

What they claimed as new was actually used
I ordered a new Samsung phone (SGH-D880). When I received the phone, both seals of the box were broken, there was even a home-made seal on top of one of the seals to cover the broken seal, there was a Japanese SIM card installed in the phone, the battery was used, there were fingerprints all over the phone, and the ear-piece had hair from the person that had used it.

Pros: They have good prices...
Cons: ... but prices are not everything! I am still waiting to see what they will do with my issue.
